Workshop – Tackling slum landlords

The idea of the workshop is to present our study on unfit housing in the EU: how to better protect vulnerable tenants from slum landlords.

During the workshop speakers will talk about the different experiences to tackle slum landlords in the Netherlands, France, Belgium and Ireland.

For those of you who are not acquainted with the term, ‘slum landlords” or “rogue landlords” also known as ‘marchands de sommeil’ in French-speaking countries. There is no unique definition but they are all unscrupulous landlords that fail to fulfil their obligations to keep the dwelling fit for human habitation taking advantage of the vulnerability of the tenants.
